nano brows

Pre Care

What is Nano Brow procedure?

Nano Brows is the process of implanting color pigment beneath the surface of the skin by means of a small, sterile, disposable needle. The primary focus of Nano Brows is to create the appearance of fuller eyebrows or to enhance the natural features of the face.

Is this a tattoo?

Yes, this is a form of a tattoo. However, Nano brow tattooing is a totally different technique practiced by trained professionals using completely different pigments as well as different techniques with state of the art equipment.

How do I prepare for my Nano Brow session?

Before your appointment, I highly encourage my clients to check out my Instagram and "shop" for eyebrows on my feed. Eyebrows comes in many shapes and styles, from feathered to bold, arched to straight. I will work with you to customize your best brows. Please read through some important reminders below:

  • If you normally get your eyebrows waxed or threaded to maintain the shape, you may get them shaped 3 days prior to your microblading appointment.

  • I would like to use as much of your natural hair as possible, you may let your eyebrows grow until your nano brow appointment. I will pluck any stray hairs that I wish to remove after the mapping of your new eyebrows.

  • Avoid tanning two weeks prior to your nano brow appointment.

  • Do NOT come to your nano brow appointment with a sunburn on your forehead or flaking skin around your eyebrows. In this case, email me at least 48 hours prior to your appointment to reschedule.

  • Avoid chemical peels at least 4 weeks prior to your nano brow appointment.

  • All facials & skin treatments must be done 4 weeks prior to your appointment of 4 weeks after your appointment.

  • You can get Botox & fillers 4 weeks prior to your appointment or 4 weeks after your appointment.

  • You MUST stop using Retinol 2 weeks prior to your appointment.

  • AVOID alcohol, flax, ibuprofen or any medication that thins the blood 24 hours prior to your microblading appointment.

Who is ineligible for Nano Brows?

I do not provide nano brows for people: under 18 years old, pregnant or nursing, if you have diabetes, glaucoma, skin diseases such as Shingles, psoriasis or eczema on the area of treatment, allergies to makeup, Keloid disorder, HIV/Hepatitis, skin cancer, hemophilia, or if you're taking skin medications like Accutane and steroids. If you are in remission from cancer, please provide written permission from your Doctor.

How long does Nano Brows last?

The treatment is considered a form of tattooing and will not wash off, however, it will fade over time and may need a touch up every 1-2 years. Frequency of touch ups depends on a number of different factors including: the pigment color used (lighter colors fade faster), lifestyle (sun exposure), iron deficiency (your body absorbs iron-oxide as a supplement), and if any chemical peels come into contact with treated areas. Please note that final results can not be guaranteed as each unique skintype will hold pigments differently and break down at different rates. The tattooed hair strokes tend to have a more crisp look once healed on dry skin compared to more blurry strokes on oily skin.   I will re-evaluate how your skin has received the pigment at your touch-up appointment and make any changes necessary.

Touch ups are normal for cosmetic tattoo procedures, with each new procedure requiring 2 visits.

How will I look immediately following my Nano Brows session?

Your permanent makeup will appear darker and bigger than expected for the first few days. This will gradually lighten during the complete healing process. Please view the detailed aftercare below.

Aftercare

NANO BROW post care is very important to the appearance and longevity of your new eyebrows.

DAY 1 (AFTER PROCEDURE):

  • For the first 1 hour, firmly blot eyebrows every 5-10 minutes using a clean dry cotton square provided to you or any clean cotton round, paper towel or napkin (avoid using anything with too much lint).

  • After the fist 1 hour, firmly blot eyebrows once every hour for the rest of the day.

  • In the evening, gently wash eyebrows using clean hands and gentle cleanser in gentle circular motions. Rinse off soap completely. Immediately and firmly blot eyebrows dry with cotton round or paper towel (do not air dry and do not use bath towel or anything with lint).

  • Avoid any pillow or blankets rubbing on the brow area while sleeping.

  • Avoid any dust or wind blowing on face, it’s an open wound.

  • Brow area might be tender/sore (sunburn feeling), ok to take any medications if desired.

DAY 2-10:

  • Wash brows the following morning. Follow exact same steps from previous wash. No healing balm is needed yet.

  • Do NOT wash again for remaining 9 days.

  • Day 3 start applying healing balm at least once a day. Can use more often if desired. Gently blot or tap a tiny rice grain size amount onto the brows using a clean finger tip or q-tip. Less is more. We still want the skin to breathe.

  • Eyebrows might feel dry, tight or itchy a few days into healing. Most clients do not scab at all but may experience dry flaky skin. Do not pick at brows. Use a spoolie or q-tip to gently brush off any dry skin/flakes that is lingering.

  • Keep eyebrows DRY during this 10 days. IF brows accidentally get wet or damp from water or sweat, firmly blot-dry with lint-free cotton/linen. No direct sun exposure for long periods of time, wear hat if needed.

DAY 10:

  • Wash the eyebrows very well with your gentle cleanser and resume normal skin care/makeup routine.

  • You may continue using the healing balm if desired. The eyebrows will be in the “ghost” phase, light and patchy.

  • Color will darken up a bit over the following weeks.

  • The eyebrows take a full 4-10 weeks for complete healing and true color reveal (depending on clients age and skin health).

  • You may now wear makeup on brows if desired.

FIRST 10 DAY REMINDERS:

  • NO SWIMMING, EXCESSIVE SWEATING, TANNING, SAUNAS (light exercise is ok: walking, light weight lifting, stretching, regular yoga)

  • NO MAKEUP OR ANY PRODUCTS DIRECTLY ON EYEBROWS

  • NO USE OF BROW GROWTH SERUMS

  • NO WAXING THE EYEBROWS

  • IF BROWS GET WET SIMPLY BLOT THEM DRY ASAP

  • NO PICKING, PEELING OR RUBBING THE BROWS

  • WEAR HAT IF IN THE SUN FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME (NO SUNSCREEN ON BROWS)

LEADING UP TO YOUR TOUCH UP SESSION:

  • Touch-ups are typically only needed after initial session for new clients, not for color-boost touch-ups.

  • Skin layers take a full 6-10 weeks to completely heal. We cannot judge the final results within this time frame.

  • Week 1 is darker, warmer in color, and bolder overall in shape and color. Week 2-3 is light and patchy in color, shape shrinks slightly. Weeks 4-8 the color reappears slightly darker than previousweeks but softer in the skin. Permanent makeup heals flat in the skin, unlike topical makeup that sits on top of the skin and adds texture, depth, and reflects light differently.

  • It is normal and to be expected that the healed results might be a bit patchy or light in some areas because the skin is an uneven and bumpy texture. Because of this the perfecting touch-up is very important to achieve final results.

ADDITIONAL IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

  • Please be aware that the result of the procedure is dependent on various factors, including medications, health conditions, and skin conditions. Factors such as oily skin, unhealthy skin, dry/flaky/reactive skin, loose or lax skin, poor diet, smokers skin, sun-damaged skin, and not following aftercare instructions can and typically WILL affect the healed results.

  • It has been reported that antacids, thyroid medications, and anxiety medications may interfere with cosmetic tattooing. These mediations can affect the retention of the pigment or cause the pigment to shift to an undesirable tone. It is important to note that everything we consume has a chemical structure and the interaction of these compounds within the body can result in a different color spectrum. Therefore, it is possible that some clients may require more frequent adjustments than others. An educated client will have better expectations and understand the need for touch-ups. All in all any changes in medications, hormones, etc. could affect the skin barrier in which affects the appearance and longevity of the permanent makeup/cosmetic tattoo.

  • The client is solely responsible for disclosing any concerns related to the pre and post care in order to achieve an optimal outcome. If you encounter any legitimate medical concerns regarding your permanent makeup, it is strongly advised to seek immediate medical attention from a qualified healthcare professional. Please be aware that Beverly Hills Ink cannot be held liable for any expenses or changes incurred as a result of seeking external medical care.
